Ted Mann is a co-founder and CEO of SnipSnap, the first app to let consumers redeem printed coupons from a smartphone. The Philadelphia-based company was incubated at DreamIt Ventures, and launched 2 years ago at TechCrunch Disrupt. Since then the app, which is available on iOS and Android, has grown to 4 million users, who have snipped 100 million coupons and saved $200 million. The company is profitable and now powers mobile coupons for more than 50 national retailers, including Bed Bath & Beyond, Toys "R" Us, Party City, and Rite Aid, targeting users both through the SnipSnap app and via retailer-owned and -paid media channels. Prior to SnipSnap, Ted was Director of Digital Development for Gannett, where he built the company's first daily deal website and hyperlocal blog networks. Twitter @TurkeyMonkey.
As a father of two young kids and lazy couponer, Ted started SnipSnap to be a more responsible, frugal parent—and also to make sure his wife wouldn’t yell at him for always forgetting the baby coupons. Previously Ted was Director of Digital Development at Gannett, where he oversaw the core newspaper sites for 6 New Jersey papers. At Gannett, he also launched several ventures, including the company’s first hyperlocal network, InJersey, as well as their first group of daily deal sites (now called “Deal Chicken”). He also started his own website design and development business, Striped Bull, which developed websites for local businesses and medium-sized companies. Ted was also a reporter and editor for 10 years.
